Why Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Could Be Right For You

What would your life be like if you could just start over from debt? Chapter 7 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code allows individuals and families to completely eliminate all or most of their consumer debt and get the fresh start they need.

I am Charlotte bankruptcy lawyer Rashad Blossom. After years of working for larger law firms, I opened Blossom Law PLLC because I wanted to help people get a fair shake in life. I was raised in a blue collar, middle-class family by parents who struggled to make ends meet. It seemed that juggling finances to pay the mortgage, car payment, the electric bill or buy groceries every month was part of our daily lives. Sound too familiar? Let's talk.

From offices in Charlotte, I represent individuals and families in communities throughout Mecklenburg County and surrounding counties. Call to arrange a free bankruptcy consultations with an experienced Charlotte Chapter 7 bankruptcy attorney today.

What Debt Can Be Discharged?

Chapter 7 allows you to eliminate most credit card debt, medical bills, other consumer debt, and even small business debt if you meet certain qualifying criteria. (Most people qualify.) You can even eliminate federal and state tax debt after certain conditions for repayment have been met. The good news is that most people are able to keep their house and the family car, if they agree to reaffirm the debt and continue to make timely payments.

What If You Don't Qualify?

In order to qualify to eliminate your debt through Chapter 7, your debt-to-income ratio must meet certain criteria. If the calculation determines that you should be able to meet your debt obligations, you will qualify for Chapter 13 bankruptcy to restructure your debt. During your initial free bankruptcy consultations, I will explain the new bankruptcy laws and help you determine whether Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 is your best option.
